Reflection [homily]
–
This person prepares a 7-minute talk given
to the children about the readings, Gospel, or some special event going on
in the parish or Church at this time. This is intimidating as first but
inspired in the doing. In this format we can present the lessons of the
Liturgy in a number of styles that you can choose from of think of. There
are a number of guides and literature available. The children are
encouraged to respond to questions about the Gospels and readings: Who was
in the Gospel? What happened when? What would you feel? What do you
think? You would be amazed at all the volunteers and their answers.
Some ways the Reflection have been presented:
1.
Children had been pre-selected and acted out the Gospel
2.
A Reflection was presented on Thankfulness. The children wrote
their thoughts of ornaments and those were hung on a “tree”.
3.
The presenters have brought
in all nature of visual items: dolls to show caring, Baptismal garments &
candles (John The Baptist), rope with “leaves” (“Vine and the Branches”).
