Stationery Supply Collection
October 15-16

Parishioners who have completed the Social Justice program called Just Faith have been very touched by the sad plight of those persons who are held at the Elizabeth Detention Center. It is here where persons waiting either deportation or adjudication regarding deportation procedures are held indefinitely in a prison-like environment. A simple way for us to ease the suffering and despair of those detainees is to provide supplies of writing materials that would allow the detainees to write home to their family and friends. On the weekend of Oct 15 -16, will you assist us by donating an item listed below or contributing to their purchase? Boxes will be in the Gathering Space for the stationery as well as the wooden collection box to safely place stamps and monetary donations. Items requested are below.

Only these items will be accepted into the Detention Center:

Two-pocket folders
New packages of lined loose leaf paper
Boxes of envelopes
First class Forever Stamps
98 cent International Stamps
Monetary donations for payment of phone calls to family

The pain and hopelessness of these persons has touched our hearts. By this simple, random act of kindness you can become an instrument of God's peace and love to some of the saddest of God's children we have ever seen - maybe 20 miles from the safety and warmth of our homes. Thank you for your compassion and help.
