RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

Team Information

  • Do you want to become a Catholic?

  • Are you a baptized Catholic who never received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation?

  • Have you been feeling that something is missing in your life?

  • Are you seeking more out of your life?

  • Have you been feeling drawn to the Catholic faith?

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process:

  • For persons who have never been baptized,

  • For persons who have been baptized in other Christian Churches and want to become members of the Catholic Church

  • For Catholics who have been baptized but never received the Sacraments of Confirmation or Holy Eucharist.

The goal of the RCIA process is to help people come to a full and conscious decision to participate actively in a life with Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church.
The RCIA helps adults:

  • Grow in their relationship with God,

  • Become familiar with Catholic teachings and practices,

  • Get acquainted with the faith community, and

  • Become involved in service within the community as a whole.

Call, e-mail or write with your questions about St. Peter's RCIA Program. You will receive a warm and welcoming response.

If you live close to the St. Peter the Apostle neighborhood of River Edge, NJ we invite you to contact our RCIA Directors:

Team Information

The RCIA process welcomes all those inquiring about the Catholic faith. Team members are sponsors/catechists who mentor those interested in becoming Catholic and Catholics who have not received Eucharist and/or Confirmation. They share their own faith journeys, break open the Sunday readings for further reflection, and represent the larger community of St. Peters.

Team members meet with candidates on a weekly basis — Tuesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. beginning in December and ending in May or June. Team members occasionally come in shifts, based on their availability, and take turns providing hospitality and leading the scripture reflections.
