Each spring and fall parishioners volunteer on one Saturday to help in the construction or renovation of housing for the needy. Event dates and sign-up information are found in the bulletin. Habitat for Humanity also needs volunteers who are available during the week. Parishioners who are available during the week may contact Steve Sahagian or Barbara Gallagher for more information.
All kinds of help is needed -- from actual construction tasks to providing lunch and cleaning up the site at the end of the day. All age groups are welcome, but some tasks are limited to adults.

St. Peter's Habitat for Humanity Spring Project a Success!

The second Habitat for
Humanity project took place on Saturday, May 3 in Englewood and 16 members
of the St. Peters community took part, some learning how to spackle and
paint for the first time! Of the 16 team members, there were 4 married
couples and no one will tell who was training and who got trained!!
Additionally, the River Edge Girl Scout troop, led by Claire O’Connor,
attended and made 3 flower boxes for existing Habitat for Humanity
residents who moved into the neighborhood last fall. The team arrived at 8
AM, received their assignments for the day and began to transform a
dwelling into a home. Mid-morning refreshments were provided by our
best-ever bakers, the St. Peters Rosary Society, and the team enjoyed
homemade goodies, with just enough sugar to propel them back into the
spackling and painting. Over a lunch of pizza, the team enjoyed meeting
one of the residents who was invited to join the team and share her
thoughts about owning a home. The day ended with 16 very tired, dusty and
paint covered team members who donated their time and (newly developed!)
talents to the community and Habitat for Humanity's future residents. All
agreed, very enthusiastically, they had a lot of fun, did a lot of work
and felt a deep sense of commitment to continue to participate in future
Habitat for Humanity projects.
