Harrison House

What is the Harrison House?
Harrison House is a non-profit group home, located on the property of Bergen Regional Hospital, off Fairview / Pascack Road in Paramus, for people who have HIV/Aids run by Buddies of New Jersey Inc. We are one of about 20 churches in the area that provide the evening meal usually a salad, an entree, dessert and a beverage. Each church usually does one day a month, with some doing more. Our assigned date is the fourth Thursday of each month. For more information about Harrison House please go to their web page (www.njbuddies.org/harrison_house.html).

What is the time commitment?
Members volunteer for a date: plan, prepare and deliver the meal. The meal can be prepared by a team or done by an individual. Harrison House provides a suggested menu but substitutions can be made at the discretion of the cooks.

With the current number of “cooks” the schedule is about one month a year.

Members are responsible for preparing the meal – salad, an entree, dessert and a beverage, and delivering it by 4:30 PM.

How can I help?
Additional “cooks” are always welcome, or if you would like to organize a team to cook. Harrison House has open days where no meal is prepared by this community outreach program. If St. Peter’s can provide additional “cooks” we can commit to another day during the month.
