Ministry of Music
What does a Choir member do?
Choir members (adults and children) help and encourage the assembly to participate actively in the Mass by raising their voices in song during Sunday Masses (9:30 a.m. for children and 11:00 a.m. for adults). Our choirs also participate in other liturgies such as The Triduum, Christmas and various other important liturgies of the parish prayer life.
Choir members add to the beauty and enliven the musical elements of their respective liturgies.
The Children’s Choir is open to elementary school students (St. Peter’s Academy and public schools) in grades 1 through 8. No musical requirements.
The primary rehearsal will be on Sunday morning at 9:10 AM just before Mass. Additional rehearsals will be scheduled as required for participation in the Christmas Program and other special occasions.
Online registration is required for communication purposes:
A Choir member needs a pleasant singing voice and a good ear. Music reading skills, while desirable, are not necessary. No audition required.
The Adult Choir is open to any parishioner or student beyond grade 8.
The Adult Choir practices most Tuesdays from 7:30 – 9:00 PM, mid-September until the end of May. A Choir member must be able to regularly attend the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and a reasonable number of weekly rehearsals, September through May.
