Mission
The mission of the Library is to serve all
parishioners by providing them with easily accessible reading, tapes and
videos that may help them grow in knowledge of their faith, in the history
of the church, and in personal spirituality. The contents of the library
consist primarily of works by Catholic authors, or reputable works dealing
with Catholicism and contemporary Christian spirituality.
Library Selection
Committee
The Library Selection Committee meets at least
twice yearly to review materials provided by mainstream Catholic
publishing companies and to review books found in such publications as
America, U. S. Catholic and in reputable secular journals. The
criteria for selection are readability and appeal to the average adult.
The
objectives of selection are to help people know more about themselves and
their faith, to assist individuals in their spiritual growth and in
dealing with various life situations, and to supplement the adult
formation and education available in other forms, i.e., preaching, small
groups, classes and bible study
Write a Book Review
If any parishioner who has read an interesting
book from the library’s collection and would like to write a brief review
of this book, we would be happy to publish it, either in the Weekly
Bulletin or Parish Newsletter. |
Donate a Book in Memory of a
Loved One
The
Library Selection Committee will purchase a book with your donation . A
Bookplate, stating the name of the person memorialized and the name of the
donor, will be placed in the book. A card is then sent to the family
of the loved one, informing them that the book is now in the Parish
Library. Please stop by the rectory if you wish to donate a book. |
