Ongoing Projects:

Equal Exchange Gourmet Coffee

One way St. Peter's takes social action is by participating in the

Equal Exchange Gourmet Coffee Program.

Coffee purchased from this website offers consumers fairly traded gourmet coffee direct from small-scale farmer co-ops in Latin America, Africa and Asia.  Coffee is a leading source of income for the  Developing World. Through fair trade, it can be a delicious and powerful tool to bring about positive change for small farmers and their families and bring them out of poverty.  You can participate too.  Please visit their website to learn more about this program and to buy your coffee at their consumer online store.

Where to Donate Your Used Clothes,

Toys and Furniture

From time to time the Social Concerns Committee is asked where people can donate their used clothes, toys, furniture, etc. As a service we have compiled a list of organizations that accept donations. As always we advise that you call organizations first before collecting items or delivering them as space limitations sometimes prevent them from accepting donations. We also remind you to be sure that the item you wish to donate is in good condition.

Midnight Run

is an organization that provides food and clothing to the homeless.

We are in constant need of used clothing for men and women only.

We do NOT collect clothes for children.

We also appreciate NEW underwear and socks as well as monetary donations.

Clothes and donations can be dropped off at 106 Adams Ave. (Kinderkamack Rd. entrance). For more info contact Pete Davey @ 201-486-5214,

Cathy Davey @ 201-486-5215 or Sarah Cahill @ 201-261-1211.

CAN YOU HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR?

Starfish of River Edge and Oradell, an interfaith organization sponsored and supported by the houses of worship of River Edge and Oradell, is in need of more drivers and Officers of the Day.

Drivers transport the elderly of the 2 towns to doctors and hospitals in the area. Officers of the Day answer calls from the Answering Service, in their homes, one day a month. They then arrange for drivers (from our list) for those needing rides.

If you can give some time to this worthy cause,

please call Eleanor Grybowski at 201-262-0306.

Eleanor is St. Peter's representative to Starfish.

Support Our Troops

There is a new and unique way to support our troops. For those individuals who have accumulated frequent flyer miles, you can donate those miles to our troops who have to pay their own way on many occasions. Specifically, it is geared towards those military personnel who are stationed overseas.
