Earlier this year the Archdiocese of Newark launched We Are His Witnesses, a major pastoral planning initiative shaping the future of our Church and local parishes. Many of you participated in this process by completing the Disciple Maker Index Survey back in May — thank you! Now, the next step for us is here: parish listening sessions. Whether you’ve been following this initiative closely or are hearing about it for the first time, now is the time to lean in.
Currently the focus is on exploring ways to respond to the growing needs of Northern New Jersey and ensure a sustainable future for our Church, including a restructuring of parishes in our area.
You can review the proposed models at www.WeAreHisWitnesses.org and join one of our Parish Listening Sessions to learn more and share your feedback. Cardinal Tobin invites all of the faithful to participate. We want to hear from you as we discuss what this means for St. Peter’s and our potential to remain a stand-alone parish or embrace merging with other parishes. Each session will be led by an Archdiocesan representative and supported by parish leaders, with small group discussion and facilitated large group feedback.
For our parish to properly plan, please register for the St. Peter’s session you plan to attend. Pick whichever date works best — the sessions will be the same.
Session options (6–8 PM, Parish Center):
Tuesday, October 21
Thursday, October 23
Let us pray for wisdom and unity as we discern the path ahead.
