Allison Oblen, Director of Faith Formation

Dear Friends,

As another year of Faith Formation comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude. Over the past year, I have watched our children grow in faith as they learned to ask questions and come to know Jesus more deeply. I have seen parents make faith a priority amid busy schedules, bringing their families together for formation, prayer, and service. I have witnessed catechists and volunteers generously share their time, talents, and love for Christ with our children. It has truly been a privilege!

Faith Formation is about much more than classes. It is about building a community where families encounter Jesus Christ and grow as His disciples. This year that happened in many ways: through classes, family gatherings such as Advent wreath and palm cross making, service projects like Advent in Action and the Thanksgiving Bag Drive, and the preparation and celebration of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.

I am especially grateful for how our program has grown. This year we launched our Family Track, where families came to classes together; we hosted our first Moms Retreat; and we offered our Lenten “Feed Thy Neighbor” sandwich-making event. We were also blessed to expand Children’s Liturgy of the Word into a weekly offering at our 10am Mass, helping our youngest parishioners encounter the Gospel more deeply. These experiences have helped faith come alive in the classroom, at home, and in our parish.

As we look ahead to next year, I invite all families to continue this journey with us. Registration for Faith Formation is now open, and we look forward to welcoming both new and returning families.

I also ask you to prayerfully consider whether God may be calling you to serve as a catechist or volunteer. The future of our Church depends on faithful men and women willing to share their faith. You do not need to have all the answers, just a willingness to walk with our children and families as they grow closer to Christ. Training, resources, and support are provided. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please use this form or reach out to us at aoblen@saint-peter.org.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year a success. Together, we continue the mission entrusted to us by St. Peter: tending the flock God has placed in our care.

May God bless you throughout the summer, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall!

In Christ,
Allison Oblen
Director of Faith Formation
