Children's Liturgy of the Word Begins

Beginning Sunday, September 21st, Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be offered each week at the 10am Mass throughout the school year (with the exception of a few dates). Just before the first reading, children ages 5–11 will be invited to gather in the Parish Center for Scripture, reflection, and prayer in a kid-tailored celebration of the liturgy, returning to church before the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

The experience will be guided by Youth Ministry members Emma L., Charlie H. and Sophia M., and overseen by adults including a priest. During this time, children hear God’s Word in a way they can truly understand, while parents are able to listen more deeply — helping the whole family grow together in faith. We look forward to sharing this special time together!

St. Peter's Carnival 2025

Carnival season is here — a time for us to all take part in making our largest parish fundraiser of the year another great success! The 14th Annual St. Peter’s Carnival returns September 25-28, 2025 for four days of rides for all ages, classic carnival games and treats, and our ever-popular 50/50 Raffle. As always, every dollar raised supports the mission and ministries of our parish. Thank you for your support!

For details, pre-sale ride tickets, volunteer sign-ups, and online raffle ticket purchases, please visit www.saint-peter.org/carnival.

50/50 RAFFLE

Our renowned Carnival Raffle tradition is back! Tickets are $15 each, and unlike in past years, we won’t be mailing them out due to postal regulations. Here’s how you can get yours:

  • Take an envelope of tickets from Carnival Committee members after Mass this weekend of August 16 & 17th

  • Visit the Welcome Desk on Sundays or stop by the Rectory during the week

  • Purchase online through Faith Direct

Completed ticket stubs with payments can be returned by mail, dropped in the collection boxes at church entrances, or brought to the rectory. Winners will be picked at 7:30pm on the final evening of the Carnival — and you don’t need to be present to win!

VOLUNTEER WITH US

This event wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our parishioner base volunteering for the 183 shifts to fill. Whether you’ve helped before or are considering it for the first time, volunteering 2-3 hours of your time makes a big impact! Please sign up here, or visit the Welcome Desk after Sunday masses for assistance. We’re looking for:

  • Adults (18+) to run game booths

  • Confirmation candidates (ages 14+) to be runners/cleanup

RIDE TICKETS

Take advantage of discounted pre-sale ride tickets — now available online at $25 for 30 tickets. Bring your family, invite a friend, and enjoy the festivities!

SPONSORSHIPS

Each year, the Carnival draws hundreds of visitors from our parish and surrounding communities. If your business would like to be part of this beloved event as a sponsor, we’d love to hear from you!

Support a St. Peter's High Schooler at Vision 2025 (Donate by May 11th)

St. Peter’s is thrilled to share that 17 of our high school students will attend Notre Dame Vision 2025—a 5-day summer faith retreat held on Notre Dame’s beautiful campus.

To support them, we’re launching a Ministry Partnership: an opportunity for parishioners to help cover the cost of airfare (around $650–$800 per student). No gift is too small — it will all go towards supporting our youth! In return, each donor will be paired with a student who will pray for them or their intentions throughout the retreat—including at sacred sites like the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. After the retreat, students will write thank-you letters sharing how the experience impacted their faith.

How to Donate:

  • Venmo St. Peter’s (write Vision 2025 in the description)

  • Check payable to St. Peter the Apostle with Vision 2025 in the memo (drop off at the rectory)

Prefer to stay anonymous? No problem—just note it when donating.

Deadline: Sunday, May 11th

Thank you for investing in the spiritual growth of our youth! If you have any questions, please reach out to Hannah Schmitz at hschmitz@saint-peter.org.

Easter Food Blessing

Easter Food Blessing

Join us in the blessing of your Easter food at 11am in the chapel on Holy Saturday, April 19, 2025. You’re invited to bring your Easter baskets of meats, breads, decorated eggs, jelly beans, chocolates, etc. to be blessed in the chapel.

The custom of blessing food for Easter arose from the discipline of fasting throughout Lent and the special Easter fast during the Triduum. Easter was the first day when meat, eggs, and other foods could again be eaten.

Swieconka (sh-vee-soon-kah) is one of the most enduring and beloved Eastern European traditions. Baskets containing a sampling of Easter food are brought to the church to be blessed on Holy Saturday. The basket is traditionally lined with a white linen or lace napkin and decorated with sprigs of boxwood, the typical Easter evergreen. Special pride is taken in preparing a decorative and tasteful basket with crisp linens, occasionally embroidered for the occasion, and just enough boxwood and ribbon woven through the handle. Observing the foods and creations of other parishioners is one of the special joys of the event.
