Blessing of Throats (Feast of St. Blaise)
Join us for Daily Mass at 9:00 AM on the Feast of St. Blaise, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with the traditional Blessing of Throats. We invite all parishioners to come and receive this special blessing, asking God’s protection for our health and well-being.
St. Blaise was a bishop and martyr of the early Church, remembered especially for his care for the sick. According to tradition, he healed a child who was choking, which led to the custom of blessing throats on his feast day. Through the intercession of St. Blaise, the Church prays for healing and for protection from illnesses of the throat and body, trusting in God’s loving care.

All Souls' Mass of Remembrance
All Souls’ Mass of Remembrance — November 1, 2025
Our Catholic tradition is rich in its belief that our loved ones who have died are not removed from our care. By prayer we accompany them and assist them in their final journey to the Kingdom of God. On All Souls’ Day, we remember all those who have died.
On Saturday, November 1st, at 5:00pm, a Mass will be celebrated to remember our deceased family and friends. In a candle-lighting ceremony, the names of all the deceased who have had funerals in the parish in the last year will be remembered.
If you had a family member die in the last year who was not buried from St. Peter’s and you will be present for the Mass, please email the name to cblack@saint-peter.org or call the rectory at 201-261-3366 by Thursday, October 23rd. Your loved one’s name will be read and someone in your family will receive a candle in remembrance.
The Book of the Names of the Dead
Located near the Baptismal Font you will find The Book of the Names of the Dead which already contains the names of those who have died and were buried from St. Peter’s. We invite you to enter the names of your deceased loved ones who will be prayed for during the month of November, the month of All Souls.
